Canon MAXIFY iB4020 Driver
Canon MAXIFY iB4020 Driver– Canon’s iB4020 Wireless Small Office Inkjet Printer ($ 149.99) is the only single-function printer introduced in the Maxify line of its Small Office / Home Office (SOHO) models. At least for standard fonts, it has a large amount of paper, low cost of ownership, and excellent inkjet text quality.
The iB4020 ($ 399.99 on Amazon) measures 11.5 x 18.3 x 18.1 inches (HWD) and weighs 21.5 pounds. It has a sufficient standard paper capacity of 500 sheets divided into two 250-sheet trays and an automatic double-sided printing device (ADF) for double-sided printing.
It has a better standard paper capacity than the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-5190 (Amazon). This is a 250-sheet front drawer, 80-sheet rear tray, and a standard double-sided press (for double-sided printing) and a second 250-sheet tray option ($ 99.99). The iB4020 is designed for easy printing with the Epson WF-5190’s 45,000-page maximum monthly duty cycle of 30,000 pages.
Above the printer is a small (2-inch) two-line monochrome touchless display controlled by the right, left, and OK (Enter) buttons. I found the small text on the display difficult to read.
The iB4020 is compatible with AirPrint and uses the Maxify Cloud Link interface. This allows you to access a variety of cloud-based services directly from your printer. You can print documents from services such as Flickr, Facebook, Twitter, Google Drive, and Dropbox without a computer. iB4020 supports Google Cloud Print. This allows you to send documents to your printer from any computer, smartphone, or device connected to the Internet. You can also print photos and documents from your device by installing the Maxify Printing Solutions app on your iOS, Android, or Windows RT smartphone or tablet.
You can connect to the network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi and connect directly to your computer via a USB cable. I tested it with an Ethernet connection using the driver installed on a PC running Windows Vista.
The Canon Maxify iB4020 printed a range of our business applications (timed using QualityLogic hardware and software) at 4.7 pages per minute (ppm). If the speed of some inkjet printers is equal to or faster than the speed of a laser, this is a decent, if not brilliant, speed. Both the Epson WF-5190 and the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-5110 (Amazon) have been deprecated at a much faster rate of 10.3ppm.
The output quality is one of the strengths of the Canon Maxify iB4020. In general, it is above the average text on an inkjet printer, slightly below the average graphics quality, and slightly above the average photo quality. In general, text quality is very good for inkjets. However, with the characteristic but non-standard fonts of the test suite, printers have replaced simple and commonly used fonts. (This doesn’t apply to any other printer I’ve tested.) I was able to fix this by going to Word settings and turning off the TrueType font embedding option. After that, a unique sentence was recognized and printed.
Graphic quality is slightly lower than average and suitable for internal use. Whether you use PowerPoint handouts or official reports printed on the Maxify iB4020 depends on how noisy you are. In some backgrounds, the test showed banding (regular pattern with faint stripes). The thin lines were almost lost in the two images.
The quality of the photos is just above the average for inkjets. Black-and-white photographs showed a slight tint. Most of the prints we made in our tests were at least the quality we expected from drugstore quality. Some of them were better.
One of the strengths of the iB4020 is its low cost of ownership. Based on Canon’s price and revenue for the most economical ink tanks, it’s 1.6 cents per black and white page and 7.1 cents per color page. The iB4020 does not have the Wi-Fi Direct found on the Epson WF-5190. It is also significantly slower than the Edson’Choice Epson WF-5190, which is 10.3 ppm faster than most lasers. The running costs and output quality of the two models are similar. (If you do not need the PCL or PostScript driver included with the Epson WF-5190, the Epson WF-5110 is the same as the Epson WF-5190, but at a lower cost.)
The Canon Maxify iB4020 Wireless Small Office Inkjet Printer cannot match the speed of some new inkjet printers, but it is competitive with ample paper capacity, low running cost, consistent output quality, and reasonable speed. It is properly combined at a certain price. If you’re looking for a color inkjet printer that can print in relatively large quantities in your home or micro office, it’s worth adding to your list of candidates.
