Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-300 Driver
Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-300 Driver– The Canon’s imagePROGRAF PRO line was announced on July 9th, and while the LUCIA PRO is glued with pigment inks, it offers workflow and print quality similar to the imagePROGRAF PRO-1000, but in a more compact A3 + model with a slightly different ink set. … The ImagePROGRAF PRO-300 replaces the PIXMA PRO-10S and is the new entry-level model in Canon’s imagePROGRAF PRO lineup. With a significantly smaller footprint, the PRO-300 offers a number of performance and output quality improvements over its predecessor.
Features of the PRO-300 include easy-to-use software, new photo and matte black inks that deliver deeper, brighter blacks in glossy and artistic environments, and separate photo and matte black ink nozzles. The printer automatically selects the correct ink based on the paper loaded, saving time and ink consumption, while the Canon L-COA PRO processor can calculate the optimal ink drop pattern for optimal print quality and fast print speeds.
The PRO-300 supports borderless printing in all the highest quality print modes on a wide variety of media, including fine art papers, another enhancement to the PIXMA PRO-10S. For panoramic image printing, you can set custom paper sizes up to 990.60 mm. Profile support is provided for Canon and third-party documents.
The 3-inch color LCD displays operating status (including ink levels for each reservoir), as well as menu items and messages. It is not touch-sensitive, so users must navigate between items using the arrows on the arrow keys. The Home button restores the default status screen, and the Back button returns to the previous screen. When the printer is connected to a computer, advanced control is available through the functions provided in the printer driver.
Canon Professional Print and Layout software is included with the imagePROGRAF PRO-300. It can be used as stand-alone software or as an add-on via Canon Digital Photo Professional imaging software or Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. This app covers settings such as color management, profiling selection, and layout settings, including transfer-specific gallery printing and panoramic printing. With this software, photographers can access software check and hard check functions to achieve accurate color matching from screen to print.
Photo schools can also view this printer as a valuable investment, and its compact size and easy installation could allow tourism operators to generate additional income by selling their poster prints to customers who use their services. Its relatively small footprint makes it easy to fit into most typical work environments.
PRO-300 is supplied in a cardboard box 725 mm long, 465 mm deep and 335 mm high. The printer itself has an area of 639 x 368 x 196.5 mm and weighs 14.4 kg. 10 individual ink tanks per box (14ml full capacity in standard packaging), user-replaceable printhead, power cord, CD tray, software CD (Windows only; MacOS drivers available online) and 12-page printed beginner’s guide.
The contents of the box are packed in split Styrofoam so that the tops can be removed. The printer comes in a sturdy plastic bag at both ends with handles strong enough to hold the printer while you lift it to your desk. It is easy enough to remove the bag and foam by lifting both ends of the printer and pulling the packaging together before removing the orange ribbon strips and plastic molds that hold everything in place during shipping. Like the PRO-1000, the Pro-300 is a rectangular box with lids removed. But its area is almost 30% smaller.
Following the instructions in the Getting Started Guide identical to the PRO-1000, wait about half to three quarters for the printer to be ready to print. But unlike the PRO-100, the ink tanks are located above the printhead, so the first step is to plug in the power cord, turn on the printer, and set up the printhead.
Once this is done, each ink tank can be removed from its packaging and placed in the marked slot on the printhead. Closing the top cover completes this step, and you are ready to print after the printer has made some initial settings, including ink mixing.
At this point, it is recommended that you load a few sheets of plain paper in the top input tray and check the nozzle to make sure all ink is used and prints are intact. Lift the upper support flap behind the rear tray, place the paper in the center of the tray, adjust the paper guides so they touch the edges of the sheets. The front tray must also be lowered to pick up paper as it exits the printer.
Print time depends on a number of factors, such as print size, quality setting, the relative ink density to be used (high key images require less ink and less print time than low key images), and whether the image is printed sequentially first. or in the middle. The first print in a series usually requires a longer hold time (typically 30 seconds to one minute, but sometimes longer) as the printer adjusts various settings.
In our tests, we recorded the following average time for prints with small (10 mm or less) margins and no margins:
A4 standard quality prints – 2 minutes 20 seconds at standard quality; 3 minutes and 44 seconds in highest quality; The average borderless HQ print time is 4 minutes 40 seconds.
A3 standard quality prints – 4 minutes 35 seconds at standard quality; Best quality 5 minutes 47 seconds; Unlimited average HQ print time is 6 minutes 18 seconds.
A3 + standard quality prints – standard quality 4 minutes 44 seconds; 7 minutes 8 seconds in the highest quality; Unlimited average HQ print time is 7 minutes 48 seconds.
Note that these are average values calculated for groups of 10 to 30 prints.
It is normal to expect relatively high operating costs from printers using small ink tanks, mainly due to the costs of the tanks themselves. The 14 mm cartridges used in the PRO-300 are not designed for high volume industrial printing. This printer is best suited for relatively small volume use by individual amateur photographers and possibly camera clubs.
Buyers of this printer should be aware that many retail stores (especially photography professionals) do not stock replacement ink for this printer, so you will have to shop online. The price difference can be significant; the highest we found are individual reservoirs listed with AU $ 49 each and the lowest AU $ 24.86. Most cost between $ 25 and $ 29.
Several outlets offered 10 packs of ink ranging from $ 241 to $ 253, but this may not be such a good investment for individuals as the ink will end at different rates depending on the color distortion of the printed images. It is usually best to buy ink as needed, and many online retailers deliver it right away.
We weren’t able to get accurate ink consumption data because the printer we bought was in use before it was delivered to us, and some ink tanks were empty and others were at different levels, making it almost impossible to calculate their capacity. However, based on our usage, we estimate the average ink price to be just under AU $ 1.50 for A4 10mm margins and AU $ 3.00 to AU $ 3.10 for A3 15mm margins. Approximately 3.20–3–30 AUD is required for ink to print A3 + with 15 mm margins. All these figures assume a cartridge cost between $ 25 and $ 29 each.
The cost of other media varies by paper type and should be easily calculated for the cost of each page. As with other Canon A3 printers, the PRO-300 cannot use roll paper, which limits its overall capabilities.
However, it allows users to print in custom sizes up to 330 x 990.6mm, which gives you some options for panoramic printing if you’re ready.
